MLA presents seven professional awards throughout the year to recognize professionals and library supporters. The Award of Excellence, Trustee Citation of Merit, Loleta D. Fyan Award, Walter H. Kaiser Award and Librarian of the Year are presented at MLA's Annual Conference. The Children's Services Award of Merit and the Frances H. Pletz Award are presented at Spring Institute.
MLA presents three literary awards annually to recognize authors for their excellence. The Michigan Author Award is presented at Annual Conference. The Thumbs Up and Mitten Awards are presented at Spring Institute.
