Joy recently became the Head of Automated Services at the Brighton District Library, before that she was the Electronic Services Librarian for over five years. Her current project is coordinating and providing the technical expertise behind rewriting a public library version of Searchpath for "The Library Network" consortium. She has served as a selector for the Michigan Electronic Library (MeL) Social Issues and Social Sciences page and as co-selector for the Libraries and Information Science page. Joy created an information literacy environment for first and second year students at the University of Michigan. She has provided information literacy services for various user groups including the elderly, high school and college students, and the general public. Her willingness to develop courses and work with senior citizens to expose them to today's computer technology is to be commended.
Joy has conducted a number of presentations, seminars, and workshops on information literacy. She has published a book chapter and newsletter and journal articles. She was awarded the 2003 ACRL Instruction Section's "Innovation in Instruction Award" from University of Michigan's Instructor College.
