Cushingberry Wins Legislator of the Year Award

Representative George Cushingberry Jr. received MLA's William P. Faust Legislator of the Year Award at the 2009 Public Policy Summit. Representative Cushingberry is an avid reader, historian and library patron of the Detroit Public Library. As chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, he fought for library funding and to keep the Library of Michigan whole within state government in 2009.
A member of the Michigan House of Representatives since 2004, Cushingberry served on the Wayne County Board of Commissioners for 16 years, practices law, and serves as assistant pastor of New Starlight Baptist Church. He also served in the House from 1974 to 1982. |
