MLA met with the administration January 7 and lobbied hard for state aid to libraries. That effort has paid off with state aid receiving a 2.5% cut compared to 17% and 40% cuts in the last two years. State aid to libraries is funded at $5.85 million, or a $150,000 cut. The Library of Michigan did not fare as well, with a 20% cut. The MCIR Board will hold its first meeting on March 5. The Book Distribution Centers were eliminated in the budget.
