Partners & Giving

The Michigan Library Association is a professional association for librarians, libraries and library supporters representing over 2,000 members.  MLA provides the critical link to connect your business or organization with our members - decision-makers in the library profession.

Partnership opportunities include sponsorships and advertising at Annual Conference, Spring Institute and Workshops throughout the year, opportunities to exhibit at conferences, programs and workshops, and affiliate membership with special benefits.

MLA welcomes dynamic and collaborative partnerships for the mutual benefit of your organization and our membership.  Garner high exposure for maximum impact on the audience you are trying to reach by partnering with MLA.

Supporting MLA is a prime opportunity for donors too.  MLA has special funds addressing vital issues such as education, advocacy and intellectual freedom that are integral to the values and mission of the organization.  Make a commitment and make a difference!  With your support, MLA can empower the library leaders of today and tomorrow, and continue to enrich the lives of the people that we serve.  All contributions are tax-deductible.

Education Fund: Helps underwrite such things as our prestigious Leadership Academy and defrays costs for library staff to attend workshops and conference at discounted rates.

Advocacy Fund: This fund enables MLA to advocate for library interests at the state level.  For example, in 2007 MLA filed two amicus curaie briefs, one to the Court of Appeals and one to the Supreme Court in support of a library’s rights to govern and regulate its own resources.

Intellectual Freedom Defense Fund: Helps MLA assist libraries and patrons with specific intellectual freedom challenges and produce the intellectual freedom guide.
