Trustee and Advocates Division

Mission: To promote quality library service for citizens of all ages in the State of Michigan. Our goals shall be consistent with the goals of the MLA and shall be to provide better communication with all library trustees in order to further improve libraries and library service throughout the state.

To support professional development of Trustees for public and district library governing boards, this Division puts on its own Trustees Program track of speakers and topics at each MLA Annual Conference.

In addition, as part of the QSAC library certification process, a 4-hour course for Trustees and Directors of public and district libraries is also offered. Specialists speak on the legal, funding, budgeting, advocacy and technology aspects of library operations, using PowerPoint slides and handouts.
